The Department of Defense has identified 3,799 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans this week:

AYRES, Robert T. III, 23, Sgt., Army; Los Angeles; Second Stryker Cavalry Regiment.

DIXON, Donnie D., 37, Staff Sgt., Army; Miami; First Cavalry Division.

DOSTER, James D., 37, Sgt. First Class, Army; Pine Bluff, Ark.; First Infantry Division.

JOHNSON, Randy L., 34, Sgt. First Class, Army; Washington; Second Stryker Cavalry Regiment.

MURKERSON, Herman J. Jr., 35, Gunnery Sgt., Marines; Adger, Ala.; II Marine Expeditionary Force.

OLGUIN, Randell, 24, Sgt., Army; Ralls, Tex.; Second Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
